Benefits of eINTERACT - Reduce your hospital readmissions by 17% or greater.

eINTERACT is particularly important to skilled nursing facilities with the upcoming changes in Medicare reimbursement.

As of October 1, 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and some Medicare Advantage plans implemented reimbursement penalties for acute care hospitals for 30-day hospital readmissions. In 2012 it was 1% of a hospital’s entire Medicare billings -- it climbed to 2% in 2013 and 3% by 2014.

The number of conditions for which there will be penalties will increase over the next few years. Other potential changes in Medicare reimbursement, such as bundled payments for episodes of care will add to the incentive to reduce preventable hospital admissions and readmissions. Skilled nursing facilities that demonstrate a high rate of hospital readmissions will likely find that this trend has an unfavorable impact on their relationships with local acute care centers, in turn adversely affecting hospital referrals to their facility.
